The IBC’s Introduction to Business Management Course is imperative and a pre-requisite to anyone at the junior end of their clerking career. The course is informative and enlightening as to information that is sometimes unobtainable in a busy day-to-day clerks’ room and creates a learning environment which enables you to actively take time out to broaden your knowledge. Whether it’s being introduced to the court system structure in this country, discussing fee negotiation, or having to dissect a chambers case study, there is something to take away from this experience. This also allows one to engage with and be amongst contemporaries of a similar position. My personal experience of the IBC’s course was positive and allowed me to build relationship with many clerks, some whom I still see and speak to today.
