Testimonials for The IBC Introduction to Business Management Course
The IBC’s Introduction to Business Management Course is imperative and a pre-requisite to anyone at the junior end of their clerking career. The course is informative and enlightening as to information that is sometimes unobtainable in a busy day-to-day clerks’ room and creates a learning environment which enables you to actively take time out to broaden your knowledge. Whether it’s being introduced to the court system structure in this country, discussing fee negotiation, or having to dissect a chambers case study, there is something to take away from this experience. This also allows one to engage with and be amongst contemporaries of a similar position. My personal experience of the IBC’s course was positive and allowed me to build relationship with many clerks, some whom I still see and speak to today.
I completed both the Introduction to Business Management and the Advanced Business Management courses with the IBC, and they were extremely valuable to my professional development. The Introduction course provided a strong foundation in the legal and professional environment, effective communication and negotiation, and an understanding of the work of chambers and business development. The Advanced course built on this knowledge with a chambers-specific focus on strategic management, client collaboration, marketing, business planning, and leadership. It also addressed the practical realities of managing people, finances, and change within chambers. Both courses were well structured, highly relevant, and delivered with a clear understanding of the profession. The skills and insight gained have strengthened my confidence and strategic approach, and I would highly recommend these courses to anyone looking to develop or progress within chambers management.
The IBC Introduction and Advanced Business Courses have been invaluable in my professional development. The training provided practical tools and insights that I could immediately apply in my role as Assistant Practice Manager. It helped me build confidence in managing complex tasks and improved my understanding of best practices within chambers.
Don & Nicky are both always on hand to provide support and respond to any queries very quickly and helpfully. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to strengthen their skills and knowledge in practice management.
The IBC course helped me develop confidence in my role. The exercises, particularly the agreeing fees exercise, encouraged me to ask questions, apply my learning to real-world scenarios, and explore new areas of clerking I had not yet encountered at that stage of my career. The in-class teaching day was also a highlight, giving me the opportunity to meet other clerks in similar roles and build professional connections that continue to expand my network within the profession.
I found the course extremely beneficial. Not only did it give me the opportunity to meet and connect with other clerks in the profession, but the content significantly improved my understanding of clerking and what would be expected of me in the years to come. I genuinely think this has helped me progress in my career and I would highly recommend the course to any junior clerks considering applying.
I found the IBC Education course to be valuable and well structured. The balance between online learning and the in-person training day made the course both flexible and engaging, which worked perfectly alongside my full-time role within chambers.
Nicky and Don were both a pleasure to work with, they were approachable, supportive and clearly very knowledgeable.”
The IBC Introductory Course has been invaluable to my development as a Practice manager here at 3VB. The course has helped me build strong interpersonal skills, teaching me how to work effectively with a wide range of personalities. Most importantly, it equipped me with the tools to support clients in difficult situations with clarity and professionalism. I’m genuinely grateful for the foundation it has given me in my career.
The IBC Introduction to Business Management Course helped me in my day-to-day role by teaching me about differing personality types. This has made it easier to network, understand the complexities of my barristers’ needs and made me an even more empathetic and understanding clerk. I’d highly recommend the course to anyone starting out in a clerking role or to more seasoned clerks interested in behavioural science or how to manage the high pressures of our profession.
