The course really helped me understand the role of a clerk on a much deeper level. Speaking with clerks from different chambers and practice areas was incredibly useful, as it showed me different ways of working and highlighted that there isn’t just one “right” approach.
Before the course, my experience of clerking was mainly shaped by my own chambers and the people around me. The course gave me the chance to connect with others who had different experiences and skill sets, really highlighting how valuable having a wider professional network can be.
One of the parts I found most useful was learning about the DiSC model. Working in a service industry, this has helped me build better relationships with colleagues, counsel, and clients, which has definitely supported my development and progression as a clerk.
The course also made me more open to change and new opportunities.
